The sweet potat0

Today was our first experience on Total Defence day in NANCHIAUHIGH.It was quite horrible as we had to eat what we always dislike;sweet potato porridge. At first,we thought that it was only sweet potato but it turned out to be sweet potato porridge. It taste so bland and no soya sauce or pepper were allowed. It was even worse than our mothers' most horrible cooking. We also had the mineral water and it just taste weird!I think it was a bad combination of porridge and water.Luckily it was only during reccess that we had to eat that horrible porridge.Till now i stil wonder who had cooked it for us!I hope that our total defence day next year would be better.
What is Cilvil defence?

Civil Defence provides for the safety and basic needs of the whole community so that life may go on as normally as possible during emergencies. It involves training the civilian population in rescue work, evacuation, first aid and damage control.
Civil Defence aims to produce a civilian population familiar with procedures for survival and protection, and with arrangements for relief services and emergency supply of critical items like blood, water and food. The knowledge and assurance that loved ones are cared for will fortify the morale of our citizen-soldiers in military training or fighting at the frontline.
Civil Defence complements and supports the other defence components of the nation's Total Defence.

Military Defence

What is military defence?

Military Defence is about protecting our countries from invasions and from riots. We should avoid being engaged in riots and treat all races fairly. By doing this, the chances of riots breaking out is much lesser. Military defence is also about minimizing the damage of an attack. Defence may also involve the use of weapons that could be a good help to all the countries in fighting wars. Military is usually organised on national level.

What does total defence mean to us?

To us, total defence is to remind us about the hardship our country has gone through and to tell us not to take things for granted. Now that our country has become a first-world country we must appreciate it. Total defence is about protecting our country and overcoming crisis.

Total Defence about the different things that we can do everyday in every sector of our society to strengthen our resilience as a nation. When we take National Service seriously, participate in civil emergency exercises, upgrade our skills, build strong bonds with different races and religions, and feel the pride of being Singaporean, we contribute to Total Defence.
